RAKEZ licence renewal checklist
Renew before the expiry date on your licence: RAKEZ says there is no grace period after it. RAKEZ generally emails a renewal quotation 60 days before expiry, you submit the renewal on RAKEZ Portal 360 or the mobile app, and the renewed licence is issued digitally.

Example company: licence expiring 7 January 2027
- 30 June 2026
Submit audited accounts, if not already submitted

Renew your trade licence
Late fees vary by authority, and some free zones, including RAKEZ, give no grace period. An expired licence can stop the company's visa services and can lead your bank to restrict the account.

Renew the establishment card
Most visa transactions for the company are blocked until it is renewed. The card needs a valid trade licence.

Send the renewed licence to your bank(suggested date)
Banks set their own rules. For example, Mashreq charges a monthly fee when no valid licence is on file after 60 days and can close the account after 180 days.

The renewal checklist, in order
Work through these steps in the two months before your licence expires. Where a step depends on your licence type or activity, check with RAKEZ.
- 1. Note the expiry date printed on the licence. A multi-year licence renews on its own expiry date.
- 2. Make sure the email address RAKEZ holds for you is one you read. RAKEZ generally sends the renewal quotation there 60 days before expiry, and a quotation can only be generated within two months of expiry.
- 3. Check whether audited accounts for your last financial year are due or overdue, and ask RAKEZ whether anything else must be in place before renewal for your licence.
- 4. Submit the renewal on RAKEZ Portal 360 or the RAKEZ mobile app, and choose a payment option.
- 5. Finish before the expiry date. RAKEZ states there is no grace period after it.
- 6. Download the renewed licence. RAKEZ issues it digitally, with any applicable Immigration File e-card.
- 7. Send the renewed licence to your bank and to anyone else who keeps a copy on file.
- 8. Check the visas linked to the company, which depend on a valid licence and immigration file.
What happens if the licence expires
RAKEZ says renewing before expiry helps you avoid penalties from RAKEZ and government authorities, and that an expired licence can affect the status of the company's visas. RAKEZ lists its late renewal penalty in its FAQs; check the current amount there rather than relying on a figure from elsewhere.
An expired licence can also stop visa services for the company and can lead your bank to restrict the account.
Audited accounts: 6 months after year end
RAKEZ requires every company to submit audited financial statements, prepared by a RAKEZ approved auditor, within 6 months of the end of its financial year. With a 31 December year end, that is 30 June. Late submission costs AED 2,500.
This deadline follows your financial year, not your licence, so a licence that renews in March and a December year end give two separate dates. Qualifying Free Zone Persons also need audited statements for corporate tax under Ministerial Decision No. 84 of 2025.
Bank, establishment card and visas
Banks set their own rules for an expired licence. Mashreq, for example, charges a monthly fee when no valid licence is on file after 60 days and can close the account after 180 days. Ask your own bank, and send the renewed licence as soon as you have it.
The establishment card, or immigration file, needs a valid licence, and most visa transactions for the company are blocked until it is renewed. Renew the licence first, then the card, then any visas that are due.
Corporate tax and VAT do not move with the licence
Free zone companies generally must register for corporate tax even at 0%, and the return is due 9 months after the financial year ends: 30 September for a December year end. VAT returns, if you are registered, are due on the 28th of the month after each period. The free checker puts these next to your renewal so you can see the whole year at once.
Common questions
Does RAKEZ give a grace period after the licence expires?
No. RAKEZ states that there is no grace period after the licence expiry date, so plan to finish the renewal before it.
When does RAKEZ send the renewal quotation?
RAKEZ says the quotation is generally emailed to the address it holds for you 60 days before the licence expires. If you have not received it, contact RAKEZ rather than waiting.
When are audited accounts due for a RAKEZ company?
Within 6 months of the end of the financial year, prepared by a RAKEZ approved auditor. Late submission costs AED 2,500.
Do I need to tell my bank after renewing?
Usually yes. Banks expect a valid licence on file and set their own deadlines. We suggest sending it within 14 days of the old expiry date unless your bank gives a different deadline.
Is Get Tajdeed part of RAKEZ?
No. Get Tajdeed is a deadline calendar with reminders. It is not a tax adviser or a government service, and it is not affiliated with or approved by the FTA, RAKEZ or any other authority. Confirm your dates with a registered tax agent or your licensing authority.
