What is the UAE corporate tax registration deadline?

A company incorporated on or after 1 March 2024 must register within 3 months of incorporation. Companies that already existed on 1 March 2024 had a deadline in 2024 set by the month their licence was issued, so an unregistered older company is already late and may face the AED 10,000 penalty.

Corporate tax return: overdue unless already filed

    was due 24 days ago

Confirm it was filed. The return for the tax period ending 31 December 2025 was due 30 September 2026. If it was not filed, the late filing penalty is already AED 500 and grows each month (AED 500 a month in the first year, then AED 1,000). If the company was formed after 31 December 2025, this return does not apply; add the formation date.

If missed: AED 500 for each month or part of a month late during the first 12 months, then AED 1,000 a month. Late payment of tax is penalised separately. Source: Corporate tax return: overdue unless already filed (opens in a new tab)

Who has to register

UAE companies generally must register for corporate tax, and that includes free zone companies that expect to pay 0%. The 0% rate changes how much tax you pay, not whether you register. Registration is made on EmaraTax, the Federal Tax Authority portal.

Registration happens once. After it, the company files a corporate tax return every year, 9 months after each tax period ends.

Companies incorporated on or after 1 March 2024

You have 3 months from the date of incorporation. A company incorporated on 10 June 2026 must register by 10 September 2026. If the later month has fewer days, the deadline is its last day.

The checker uses the issue date of your first licence as the incorporation date. If your certificate of incorporation shows a different date, ask your tax agent which one applies.

Companies that existed on 1 March 2024

FTA Decision No. 3 of 2024 gave these companies a deadline in 2024 based on the month their licence was issued, whatever the year of issue:

All of these dates have passed. If your company is still not registered, register now and speak to a registered tax agent about the penalty.

  • Licence issued in January or February: 31 May 2024
  • March or April: 30 June 2024
  • May: 31 July 2024
  • June: 31 August 2024
  • July: 30 September 2024
  • August or September: 31 October 2024
  • October or November: 30 November 2024
  • December: 31 December 2024

The AED 10,000 penalty and the waiver

Registering late carries a fixed penalty of AED 10,000. The FTA waives it for eligible companies that file their first corporate tax return within 7 months from the end of their first tax period. For a first tax period ending 31 December 2025, that means filing by 31 July 2026.

The FTA sets who is eligible, and the terms can change, so confirm the current conditions on the FTA website or with a tax agent before you rely on the waiver. The free checker shows your own registration and return dates side by side.

Common questions

Does a free zone company paying 0% need to register?

Generally yes. UAE companies, including free zone companies, must register even if they pay 0%. Being registered is also what lets you file the return the rate depends on.

Is the deadline counted from incorporation or from the licence date?

For companies formed on or after 1 March 2024, from incorporation. For older companies, the 2024 deadline was set by the month the licence was issued. For many free zone companies the two dates are the same, but check your documents.

My company existed before March 2024 and is not registered. What now?

Register as soon as you can. The AED 10,000 penalty may apply, but eligible companies that file their first return within 7 months from the end of their first tax period can have it waived. A registered tax agent can tell you whether you qualify.

Is registering the same as filing a return?

No. Registration is a one-off step. The corporate tax return is a separate filing every year, due 9 months after each tax period ends, and it has its own late filing penalty.

Is Get Tajdeed affiliated with the FTA?

No. Get Tajdeed is a deadline calendar with reminders. It is not a tax adviser or a government service, and it is not affiliated with or approved by the FTA, RAKEZ or any other authority. Confirm your dates with a registered tax agent or your licensing authority.
